About Us

Sanjeev Mishra
(Founder & CEO)

Sanjeev Mishra, born and brought up in Calcutta, India, is a seasoned professional with a diverse career spanning finance, technology, and wildlife conservation. A Chartered Accountant and Cost Accountant by training, he began his career in India with the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), one of the country’s largest public sector enterprises. He later worked for BOC India, further deepening his expertise in corporate finance and strategic operations.

Driven by a desire for global exposure and cutting-edge challenges, Sanjeev moved to the United States, where he transitioned into consulting and technology. He worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting and later with IBM Global Business Services, leading large-scale business transformation projects. His work spanned critical areas such as CRM (Customer Relationship Management), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), and data engineering, helping organizations modernize their systems and optimize performance. Subsequently Sanjeev’ joined Microsoft, and later Amazon, where he focused on delivering major technological products in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and enterprise analytics. His leadership in these high-impact domains helped shape solutions that powered business decisions, enhanced customer experiences, and leveraged data in transformative ways.

Despite a demanding career, Sanjeev has always made space for his lifelong passion — wildlife and wildlife photography. From the forests of India, where he tracked elusive tigers, to the vast savannas of Kenya and Tanzania, Sanjeev has immersed himself in some of the world’s most iconic wildlife habitats. He has explored the Masai Mara, Amboseli, Tsavo, Samburu, and more capturing powerful moments through the lens—cheetahs on the hunt, elephant herds on the move, and dramatic sunsets over the savannah.

One of his most unforgettable encounters was in the dense jungles of Uganda, where he came face to face with a silverback gorilla. Another milestone was his expedition to Antarctica, a journey that took him to one of the planet’s most remote and fragile ecosystems.

Sanjeev’s love for the wild eventually led him to establish Mara Duma Bush Camp in Kenya’s Masai Mara. The camp reflects his deep respect for nature and his desire to offer others an intimate, immersive, and authentic safari experience. Set in a pristine location, the camp blends comfort with sustainability and is designed for travelers who seek connection — with nature, wildlife, and culture.

Through his camp and his photography workshops, Sanjeev continues to advocate for conservation and ethical tourism. His story is one of balance—between boardrooms and bush trails, between technological innovation and natural preservation. Whether he’s guiding enterprise strategies or leading photo workshops by tracking lions at dawn, Sanjeev brings the same focus, curiosity, and commitment to everything he does.

Tonny Nyamai
(Co-founder & COO)

Antony, known to many as Tonny, was born in the early 1970s into a life deeply intertwined with the wilderness. His father, Mzee Jonathan Nyamai, was a pioneer ranger in Tsavo East National Park, one of Kenya’s largest and most iconic protected areas. Tonny grew up in the heart of the wild, surrounded by stories, landscapes, and wildlife that shaped his sense of purpose from an early age.

Mzee Nyamai was among the initial recruits tasked with demarcating Tsavo East’s boundaries and carving out its roads. These routes weren’t drawn on maps—they followed the old ivory trade paths used by Arab traders and early European explorers. Roads through the Nyika Plateau and Tsavo wilderness mirrored the trails of those who first documented places like Lugard Falls, Mount Kenya, and Mount Kilimanjaro. Tonny’s father lived this history, often sharing stories of explorers and ancient trails under starlit skies with Tonny.

Mzee Nyamai also worked alongside David Sheldrick during the formative years of wildlife rescue efforts in Tsavo. Together, they were involved in the care of orphaned elephants and rhinos—an initiative that would later become a cornerstone of wildlife conservation in East Africa. In the mid-1970s, when a devastating drought struck the region and poaching surged, their work became even more urgent. Hundreds of elephants perished due to thirst and poachers. During this time, anti-poaching campaigns intensified and even included awareness films. Mzee Nyamai and some of Tonny’s uncles played roles in these dramatizations, often cast as poachers—a part of history Tonny still enjoys seeing in old documentaries, knowing it’s his family on screen. This was his early training into conservation and eco-tourism.

Tonny was drawn into conservation early. During the school holidays, he would ride in ranger jeeps, absorbing the rhythms of life in the bush. Though he once attempted to join the ranger unit himself, he didn’t meet the height requirement. Still, his passion never waned. Instead, he found another path—through food.

Introduced by one of his father’s friends to the camping safari scene, Tonny started as a trainee cook. From there, his journey took off. He traveled extensively through Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, cooking in mobile safari camps and sleeping under starlit nights  among the wildlife. He had close calls — face-to-face encounters with lions, elephants, and hyenas—and those experiences  deepened his love for the wild and nature.

A turning point came when he trained in Germany, gaining formal culinary experience. With his new skills, Tonny became head chef at well-regarded camps such as Westermanns Safari Camp in Tsavo East, Aruba Bush Camp, Mara Eden Safari Camp, and Crocodile Camp in the Masai Mara.

Eventually, fate introduced him to Sanjeev Mishra—a kindred spirit and fellow wildlife enthusiast. The two shared a vision: to build something of their own. That dream became a reality with the founding of their own camp in the Masai Mara, where Tonny brings decades of bush experience, culinary skill, and a lifetime of stories to every guest who visits.
